The low, 600mm single layer structure composed of species that are relatively alike in growth rates and the volumes of space.

In this two layer plant community, we are using plants with different growth rates and different canopy volumes. Using the different layers  provide additional creative opportunities, the vegetation will have more varied surface topography due to the two distinct layer presents.

The interaction between the shade tolerant to lower layer and the taller emergent layer results in an increase habitat value for invertebrates
